ProCigar, the Association of Dominican Cigar Manufacturers, announced their annual festival will take place February 6-11, 2011 in the Dominican Republic. The ProCigar Festival takes guests throughout the Dominican Republic complete with premium cigars, golf, cigar factory tours and seminars. Attendees will have a chance to sample traditional Dominican cuisine, dance and the fabled beaches.

Events commence at the famous Casa de Campo Resort on the country’s southeast coast, La Romana. Guests will have the opportunity to relax at the beach, play at the legendary Pete Dyes’ Teeth of the Dog golf course and visit the Tabacalera de García Cigar Factory. Deeper in the heart of the cigar country in Santiago de los Caballeros, cigar factory tours continue at: General Cigar, Davidoff, MATASA, La Aurora and Tabaquisa.

By night, all guests will gather for dinners featuring premium drinks, wonderful local cuisine, dancing and Dominican hospitality. Attendees will be in La Romana February 6-8 and Santiago de los Caballeros from February 8 -11 2011

All guests registered for two full days or more will receive a welcome bag with promotional items, sponsor products and the ProCigar Festival Special Edition cigar box and ashtray (a $175.00 value). For packages, pricing and registration information visit www.procigar.org.

Draper’s John Anderson is raising funds for the non-profit The Wounded Warrior Projectas part of Fight Gone Bad 5. John is a member of the Potomac CrossFit team and is raising $3,000 for the WWP. The organization, established by Veterans, provides unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of severely injured service members.

From the Stogie Guys comes a review of a new cigar, coming soon to W. Curtis Draper Tobacconist, the Guillermo Leon by La Aurora Gran Toro.

Overall the Guillermo Leon Gran Corona is a very interesting cigar with flavors that progress and change creating an interesting and often intricately subtle smoking experience.
